DNSBL removal

IP delisting for leased and customer-owned prefixes

We find which DNSBLs list the prefix and why, you correct the cause, and we file the removal requests. The fee is €129 per /24, excluding VAT, and only if a removal succeeds.

Process

Diagnose, fix, then request removal.

  1. 01

    Diagnose the listing

We identify which DNSBLs list the prefix and the reason each list publishes, when it publishes one. A listing on one list is not a listing on every list.

  2. 02

    Fix the cause

You stop the cause before a removal request. The checklist below includes reverse DNS. We do not file a request while the same traffic is still leaving the prefix.

  3. 03

    File the request

For an Elisteka lease we file as the resource holder and abuse contact. For a prefix you hold, we file on your behalf after you sign a letter of authorization for that prefix.

Blacklist removal

Different DNSBLs, different removal rules.

IPv4 and IPv6 are both in scope. A removal request is only as strong as the list’s own rule. For a prefix Elisteka leases, we file as the holder. For a prefix you hold, we need a signed letter of authorization that names it.

A DNSBL with a removal form

We file after the cause has stopped and reverse DNS is consistent. The list still decides. Success is a removal, not a submitted form.

A list that only ages out

Some lists drop an entry only after their own timer, once the cause has stopped. Waiting out that timer is not a successful removal we charge for.

A list with its own fee

UCEPROTECT is the example we name: some levels charge an express removal fee of their own. That fee is not part of the Elisteka price, and we do not pay it unless a separate written agreement says so.

Spamhaus

Spamhaus removal is the same service and the same price. The zone-by-zone notes are on the Spamhaus page.

Read the Spamhaus-specific removal notes. The same delisting pricing and authorization requirements apply.

Before we file

Checklist, including reverse DNS.

The same checklist applies to IPv4 and IPv6. Reverse DNS for IPv6 is ip6.arpa. A removal request that leaves the cause in place is likely to be refused, and a refusal is not a chargeable removal.

Stop the cause

Stop the host, relay or customer traffic that caused the listing.

Reverse DNS

Set reverse DNS to a name you control, and make that name resolve back to the same address.

Old reverse DNS

Remove reverse DNS left by a previous tenant.

Abuse mailbox

Keep an abuse mailbox that answers.

What changed

Tell us which prefix changed and when the cause stopped.

See also Spamhaus removal. Lessees can ask for the free DNSBL sample here. IPv4 leases are listed on the IPv4 inventory and IPv6 leases on IPv6 leasing. Sponsored customers who need ROA, route objects, reverse DNS or a letter of authorization as part of sponsorship should use sponsoring LIR, where those items are already included.

Price

One price, charged only after removal.

Per /24

€129 excluding VAT, after a successful removal

Prices exclude VAT. Charged only after a successful removal. No removal, no fee.

FAQ

Fees, authorization and lists we do not control.

Is removal guaranteed?

No. A list can refuse, ignore, or wait out its own timer. If the entry is not removed, Elisteka does not charge the delisting fee.

When is the fee charged?

€129 per /24, excluding VAT, and only after a successful removal. No removal, no fee. A prefix larger or smaller than a /24 is priced from that /24 unit after we confirm the size.

Who sends the removal request?

If Elisteka leases you the addresses, we can file directly as the holder and abuse contact. If you hold the block, we file only with a signed letter of authorization that names the prefix. The first form should not include identity documents.

Do you pay the list’s own fee?

No. Some operators, including UCEPROTECT on some of its levels, delist only by expiry or charge their own express fee. Those third-party fees are not included.

What is blacklist removal for an IP address?

It is a request to a DNSBL operator to remove a published listing for a prefix. It is not a change to Elisteka routing, and it is not a guarantee that mail or hosting providers will accept traffic afterwards.

Does one fee clear every list?

No. The price is per /24 for the removal work we agree. Each list decides its own entry. A third-party express fee is extra and is not included.

Is the DNSBL check free?

Lessees of Elisteka IPv4 or IPv6 can ask for a DNSBL check at no charge. We sample addresses and report which public lists answer. It is not a public scanner and it does not run continuously. Active abuse on Elisteka space should go to the abuse desk.
